CoAfrica will fund construction for 4 classrooms and 1 shared teacher workspace at Tonde Primary School in Malawi, where there are 1,728 enrolled students and only 3 safe classrooms. Most classes meet outside or in dilapidated & unsafe classroom conditions (broken roofs, crumbled brick walls, etc). The community will pitch in 20% of the cost by digging & preparing the foundation, hauling water, & other manual labor as needed in the beginning phases of construction. Coafrica is proud of our community partnerships and has a strong reputation among the areas we serve, not only working with locals but also employing locally trained professionals to do the skilled work. Coafrica's construction method allows for greater community commitment while also contributing to the local economy. Construction takes 3 months from start to finish with a large handover ceremony at completion. Coafrica project coordinators are local to the area and oversee the project while keeping close contact in the US.
